Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers make smiles look incredible. If, when you look in the mirror, you see a smile that is crooked, chipped, unevenly spaced, or badly stained, a series of porcelain veneers can transform it, making your smile look more white and vibrant.
Custom-made veneers from Greater Long Island Dental are thin coverings of porcelain that are adhered permanently to the front of your existing teeth (after some preparation). The shape and shade of your veneers is perfectly matched to the ideal size and color that complements your overall appearance. In just a few appointments, you can see the results of your own smile makeover!
Tooth Whitening
Zoom!®
The Zoom!® whitening system is a powerful, in-office procedure that produces fast, dramatic results. Under doctor supervision, you can aggressively attack stains and discoloration and see results much faster than over-the-counter treatments. With Zoom!®, a specialized light source interacts with a bleaching gel to remove even the darkest stains and discoloration. In the skilled hands of the Greater Long Island Dental team, you can see a dramatically whiter smile by the end of your appointment.
At-home
A take-home whitening kit is another option available for you to whiten your teeth at your own pace at home. You will see noticeable, fantastic results that are brighter and longer lasting than over-the-counter products. Your kit will include a customized tray, similar to a mouthpiece, which holds a whitening gel in place over your teeth. Your doctor will give you detailed instructions about completing your whitening treatment. Ask us for help in deciding which whitening procedure is right for you.
Invisalign®
You can straighten your teeth without metal braces. Invisalign® is a system that uses clear, removable aligners to incrementally straighten your teeth. There are no uncomfortable brackets or wires, and because you remove the aligners to eat and drink, there are no food restrictions or problems with brushing or flossing.
Invisalign® uses 3D computer imaging to map out your entire treatment plan in advance, allowing you to see what your teeth will look like before you begin treatment. Then, using the imaging, a series of custom aligners are created that will move teeth little by little. You will replace each aligner every two weeks with the next aligner in the sequence. Your average treatment time from initial teeth position to a brilliant, straight smile ranges from nine-to-18 months. The best part is, most people will never even notice that you are undergoing treatment! For Invisalign in Long Island NY contact us today.
Porcelain Bridges
When you are missing a tooth, it can have a significant effect on your smile and appearance. The dark place where the tooth once was makes your smile look narrow, and your cheeks may "cave in" because of the gap, giving you an aged, hollow look. Functionally, your other teeth may shift, and you may chew differently, causing a misalignment in your bite and possibly discomfort or pain.
A porcelain bridge is a natural-looking, non-removable tooth replacement that can complete your smile again. Your dentist creates a customized tooth, as well as crowns for the teeth on either side of your missing tooth. The crowns, with your new porcelain tooth between them, bridge the gap in your smile. Not only does a bridge look natural and incredible, but also it feels great.
Porcelain Crowns
If you have one tooth, or several teeth, that are damaged due to wear and tear, injury, or decay, porcelain crowns may be the solution that heals your smile.
A porcelain crown from Greater Long Island Dental is a custom-made tooth, milled out of porcelain, that is placed over your own natural tooth (after a little preparation). Since the crown is made especially for you, it will be indistinguishable from your natural teeth and will function so naturally that it feels fantastic. Whether you require one or several crowns, you can rest assured that your smile will look incredible.
Tooth-colored Fillings
When decay has been taken out of the tooth, it is replaced with "filling" material. In the past, amalgam (silver/mercury) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth. However, because of advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings. Besides looking more natural, tooth-colored fillings bond to the remaining tooth, making it much stronger than one that is restored with a silver filling. You may even elect to remove your old silver fillings and replace them with natural tooth-colored fillings.
Bonding
Bonding is a tooth-colored material applied and adhered to the surface of the tooth without reducing the structure of the tooth in most cases. Your dentist will sculpt the material to create a natural-looking tooth. Bonding corrects chipped and broken teeth, discolored teeth, and in some cases, it can also correct gaps. It is less expensive than veneers but doesn't last as long and can stain. The benefits of bonding are that, generally, the natural structure of the tooth can be maintained, the aesthetic effects are immediate, and it is great for kids with developing smiles!
